We finally started incorporating some social networking features into the site. As a previous blog post stated, we added the Share This button to our posts and pages. And just this weekend we finally incorporated our novainfosec Twitter account into the site. By following this account you’ll get tweets of new blog posts. Additionally, this works in reverse … so anything we tweet to the Twitter novainfosec account will show up as a blog post. We promise that this reverse capability isn’t going to get overloaded with what we’re eating for breakfast (for stuff like that you can follow my personal infosec Twitter account - grecs). We plan on using the novainfosec tweets for posting on-the-fly important updates when we don’t have access to a computer. We’re all sort of new to this Twitter thing so if you have any suggestions please let us know in the comments below.

In an effort to help everyone plan a little bit more in advance, we’ve added a calendar for events that take place in or around NoVA. Currently, we’re just beta testing it to see how it works out. Please feel free to let us know what you think in the comments for this post. Also, use our Contact Us page to submit events that you would like added to the calendar. I’m hoping that in the future we can set something up so anyone can add events (with a little moderation of course ). Any suggestions would be appreciated. You may have also noticed that we added a ShareThis capability in our posts and pages. Hopefully, this feature will make it easier for you to pass along any nuggets to other infosec professionals. We’ve been planning to start a site dedicated to information security for a long time but just never got around to doing it. Tonight, however, after the excitement of Saturday at ShmooCon in Washington, DC, we finally decided on a good niche - centralizing security news, events, and resources for infosec professionals in Northern Virginia (NoVA) - and took the first step into making this idea a reality.
