It’s that time of the week again: The time where we take a look at what local security bloggers have been up to. Old technology is always improved on and this week we focused on the technology that was improved.

If you can’t get enough of the local security scene, check out our NovaInfosec Twits list for even more great security blogs and people to follow on Twitter. Also be sure to follow us on Twitter @grecs if you want to know more about what’s going on in the local security community during the week.

And without further ado … here are the top picks for this week.

#3 - Top Ten Web Hacking Techniques of 2009: Interested in knowing what were the top web hacking techniques in 2009? A post about the summary of the Jeremiah Grossman Top Ten Hacking Techniques competition by one of the judges. Click here to read what the judge had to say about the competition.

#2 – Honeypots: “In the struggle between cyber attackers and cyber defenders, many tools have been built to create a strategic advantage or to gather intelligence.” A great read for cyber defenders as it explains what are honeypots and how they work “honeypots are tools used against attackers to both catch them red-handed and to figure out how they’re doing the dirt.” See what attackers are doing to your system here.

#1 – Web Browser Exploitation via Barcode Scanning: Technology never seizes to amaze us; a self explanatory title regarding barcodes with URLs. This a technical post about how to create a barcode with web browsing capabilities. You can read and try the Barcode example here!

Well, that’s all this week. Be sure to check back next week for more great blog posts from local security bloggers.
