Call for Interns
NovaInfosecPortal is currently looking for a motivated college student who is interested in pursuing a career in the computer security field to participate in a summer internship.
The internship requires a time commitment of 5-10 hours a week for a 3-month period between the months of May and August.
While the internship is unpaid, it is the ideal opportunity for a college student who wants to be mentored by a seasoned computer security professional and would like to have the opportunity to network with other computer security professionals in the NoVA, DC, and MD area.
While there are firm deadlines for assigned work, most of the work can be completed virtually. The virtual nature of this internship allows interns to carry on a regular job or summer classes while still gaining invaluable experience.
Internship Tasks:
- Attending security events in the NoVA, DC, and MD area
- Taking notes and writing summaries of security events
- Scanning local security organization websites for upcoming events
- Adding local security events to site calendar
- Researching security-related topics and trends
- Updating site content (depending on experience)
- Interviewing security professionals (depending on experience)
Internship Requirements:
- Must live in the NoVA, DC, or MD area
- Must own a computer and have a reliable internet connection
- Must be a college student who is currently majoring in IT, Engineering, Security, or a related field
- Must be a self-motivated and self-paced worker
- Must be willing to travel at least a few times a month to security event in the NoVA, DC, and MD areas. Transportation will not be provided
- Must be willing to communicate on a regular basis to provide updates on work
